Gas explosion; My opinoin

Reading through news headlines today reveals a good media coverage of the the gas explosion on Saturday's evening at Atomic junction. A lot of comments here and there about regulations, policies and the process of licensing distributors. well that's expected.

We've experienced a total of eight explosions in just three years, loosing hundreds of innocent lives and properties and there are still "no regulations on gas distribution?"

And what is this one too about tightening the process of licensing distributors? So is that supposed to mean that the licensing processes for gas distributors have been left "loose" all this while even in the face of all these explosions?

Reviewing the causes of these explosions goes beyond licensing.
In most of the cases, these explosions are caused due to "human errors". Not disputing the fact that we all make mistakes as humans, you would also bear with me that such "errors" as in the case of the Atomic junction explosion, could be avoided or better still, handled in a more professional way.

Investigations into the cause of the explosion is on-going, but preliminary investigations indicates that it was caused by an " discharge error".  Both driver and mate fled immediately after detecting that the gas was leaking instead of closing the valves. (Valve is a device for controlling the passage of fluid or air through a pipe or duct)

There is more to be done if these explosions will ever end.

Authorised agencies need to train and re-train gas distributors to avoid such "discharge errors". We can not afford to lose lives through gas explosions. The right measures need to be put in place.

I only pray these new regulations and policies will not be a nine day wonder but will help solve gas explosions.

God bless our homeland Ghana, and make it great and strong.
